NAMPA SCHOOL DISTRICT ADJUSTS LEVY PLANS TO REDUCE IMPACT ON PROPERTY OWNERS

Kristin Roden reports the Nampa School District voters will still be asked March 13 to approve a $3.58 million supplemental levy for each of the next two years, but the school board Thursday made changes that will substantially reduce the cost to property owners if the levy is approved.

The district called a special school board meeting for the afternoon after staff discovered an error in the spreadsheets board members were given before they approved the levy plans. The spreadsheet basically misplaced a decimal point in a crucial number, estimating that the planned levy would cost the owner of a $100,000 property less than $12 per year when the correct figure was nearly $117, deputy superintendent Joshua Jensen said.
