The Idaho Statesman reports: Nearly $90 million in the bank now: Idaho ended the 2012 budget year June 30 with more revenue than forecast, which means the state can replenish the reserves it drained after the economy soured in 2008.
A good revenue year: The state said Friday it booked $2.59 billion in receipts through June, amounting to about $35 million more than anticipated. That’s a 5.9 percent increase over 2011. Sales tax for the year came in at $1 billion, about 1.4 percent more than expected.
In good shape: With the budget balanced, the extra money is being put in four funds, including public education reserves now totaling about $37 million. Acting state Controller Brandon Woolf said in a statement that Idaho’s fiscal house is in “good order.”
