NEW LAW COULD HELP RESOLVE BOISE COUNTY’S FINANCIAL PICKLE

Katy Moeller reports Boise County’s commissioners have spent the past couple months trying to figure out how to pay off the balance of a $5.4 million legal judgment. They plan to outline some of those options — including a possible legislative remedy — at meetings around the county this week.

The commissioners will discuss a bill by House Republican Caucus Chairman Ken Roberts, R-Donnelly, that could give the county an option to raise more tax money than state law now allows. The bill also could make it easier for the county to get a long-term bond to pay the judgment over time.
